Noctiluca is a deep tech company specializing in the development of advanced chemical compounds for OLED display, with a particular focus on addressing critical performance challenges in blue OLED pixels.

Equity Proposition

Noctiluca is a dynamic Polish advanced materials company rapidly making the transition from an R&D-led business to an emerging industrial supplier. Listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange under the ticker NCL, the company develops specialist materials for OLED displays, with a particular focus on solving one of the industry’s toughest challenges: improving the efficiency and lifetime of blue OLED pixels. Noctiluca is now working with eight of the world’s 10 largest display manufacturers, while its lead programme with the world’s largest telecommunications equipment vendor is progressing rapidly towards industrial qualification and mass production – a stage that no European OLED materials company has previously reached.

Here are five key reasons why Noctiluca represents an interesting investment case:

1. NCEIL is driving a rapid acceleration in commercial engagement.

NCEIL, Noctiluca’s next-generation electron-injection-layer (EIL) material, addresses one of the OLED industry’s most important technical challenges: the limited lifetime and efficiency of blue OLED pixels. NCEIL, the company’s most advanced material, has demonstrated OLED lifetime improvements of more than 100%, with these results validated by both Noctiluca and multiple partners. As a result, the company’s partner base has expanded rapidly to around 15 active development programmes, including engagements with eight of the world’s 10 largest display manufacturers. At the same time, several programmes have accelerated through qualification, most notably with the world’s largest telecommunications equipment vendor and TCL Group, reflecting both growing industry interest and increasing confidence in the technology.

2. The addressable market is large and growing.

The global OLED display market is estimated to exceed US$50bn annually, supporting an OLED materials market worth approximately US$4bn today. Blue pixels remain a key constraint on OLED performance, creating a significant commercial opportunity for materials that can improve lifetime and efficiency.

3. Noctiluca is approaching a pivotal industrialisation milestone.

The company is progressing its lead material towards testing on the mass-production line of the world’s largest telecommunications equipment vendor. Customer qualification is now estimated to be around 90% complete, with a process that typically takes around 18 months expected to be completed in roughly five. Successful progression through production-line testing and industrial qualification could support the start of commercial shipments from FY27. For investors, this marks a transition from technology validation towards commercial execution, with a clear sequence of milestones that could progressively reduce risk and improve visibility on future revenues.

4. Noctiluca remains on track for a significant growth inflection from FY27.

The rapid progress of its lead programme with the world’s largest telecommunications equipment vendor is steadily reducing commercialisation risk and strengthening the pathway to meaningful revenues. Multiple additional tier-one opportunities are also progressing through the pipeline, each with the potential to generate more than €5m of annual revenue once volume production is achieved. As revenues scale, the company has significant scope for margin expansion, supported by a diversified funding base that includes equity capital, grant funding and committed debt facilities. A strategic industry player has also signed a letter of intent for an equity investment providing external validation of the company’s technology, business model and investment case.

5. Our analysis points to significant valuation upside.

Our central scenario returns a fair value of PLN183 per share, well above the current share price of PLN99.80. Our scenario analysis ranges from PLN66 per share in a downside case to around PLN400 per share if NCEIL is broadly adopted by tier-one manufacturers, suggesting meaningful upside if the company delivers on its commercialisation milestones. The OLED materials sector also has a history of strategic acquisitions focused on intellectual property. Examples include Samsung’s €260m acquisition of Novaled and Cynora’s reported US$300m IP sale despite having no commercial revenues. These transactions highlight the strategic value that differentiated OLED technologies can command.
