VinFast announced today that its partner, Green SM, has launched its all-electric taxi service in Los Angeles, marking its first entry into North America and its ninth global market. The service commenced on 13 October and operates a 100% electric fleet of VinFast VF 8 vehicles, with customers able to book through the Green SM app, hotline or street hailing for everyday journeys, longer trips and airport transfers. The US launch follows Green SM’s expansion across Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Kazakhstan, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Green SM plans to gradually build its local team and operational capabilities in Los Angeles, including recruiting and training local drivers, while continuing to invest in its fleet, technology and service quality. Since its foundation in 2023, Green SM has completed c 850m rides covering nearly 6bn kilometres and, according to the company, helped reduce more than 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The launch combines VinFast’s electric vehicle platform with Green SM’s ride-hailing operations and represents a further step in the international expansion of the two businesses.
