“Edison is the go-to for a new investor to get full understanding of the investment case and business. Edison’s distribution reaches investors that we want to connect with directly.”
IP Group has confirmed its appointment by Aberdeen Investments to manage a UK venture growth portfolio within the CG Scottish Widows Growth Long Term Asset Fund (LTAF). The first investments are expected to include Oxford Quantum Circuits, Quantum Motion, Nyobolt and Genomics, spanning quantum computing, advanced batteries and precision healthcare. The size of the mandate and fee arrangements were not disclosed.
This marks a further step in IP Group’s collaboration with Aberdeen, first disclosed in March 2026, with management having anticipated the first investments by end-2026. Three of the four intended investments are in existing IP Group holdings (while Nyobolt is a Parkwalk-backed company), illustrating how the arrangement could bring additional institutional capital to support the group’s portfolio companies as they scale.
IP Group managed or advised £553m of third-party capital at the end of June 2026, broadly unchanged from £557m at end-2025. Growing this platform could broaden the funding available to promising portfolio companies without requiring equivalent investment from IP Group’s own balance sheet, while generating additional management fee income. We view today’s appointment as encouraging evidence of strategic execution, with scope for further expansion as UK pension providers increase their exposure to private markets.
