Percheron Therapeutics has reported its September-quarter update (Q127) and announced a new preclinical research collaboration with Invion, reinforcing its capital-efficient development strategy for its anti-VISTA antibody, HMBD-002 (minperstobart). The partnership will investigate HMBD-002 alongside Invion’s Photosoft photodynamic therapy in preclinical solid tumour models, combining direct tumour destruction and immune activation with modulation of the immunosuppressive tumour microenvironment. Encouraging preclinical data combining Photosoft with anti-PD-1 support the scientific rationale, although efficacy with HMBD-002 remains to be established. Meanwhile, the Vanderbilt-led investigator-sponsored clinical study in high-risk acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) remains the nearer-term catalyst, with recruitment anticipated in H1 CY27. Percheron ended September with A$4.9m in cash (June: A$4.1m), supported by initial proceeds from its A$2.3m placement and A$0.70m R&D rebate.
We view the expanding combination strategy positively, offering a relatively low-cost route to broadening HMBD-002’s development potential. Successful preclinical validation, timely execution of the Vanderbilt study and disciplined capital allocation will be important to realising this potential and unlocking further value.
