Leading Edge Materials has commenced the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Norra Kärr and appointed Swedish environmental consultancy Ecogain, with the environmental permit application targeted for submission during 2027. Following the award of the 25-year exploitation concession in June, the EIA advances the project into the next major regulatory workstream and will define the detailed conditions for future mining operations. The assessment will be based on the revised project configuration, with chemical processing located away from the mine site, reducing the local environmental footprint while maintaining the separation between mine-site beneficiation and downstream processing. The work progresses alongside the updated PFS, resource conversion and hydrometallurgical pilot programme, with progress across these areas expected to further de-risk the project and increase confidence in its technical parameters, development configuration and cost base. Despite this progress, LEM shares have declined c 23% from C$0.22 at the time of our 8 October update to C$0.17, against the backdrop of a broader derating across rare-earth equities.
