Herantis has highlighted new clinical evidence supporting the design of its upcoming Phase II HERMOD trial of HER-096 in Parkinson’s disease, with smartphone motor assessments shown to be 2.5 times more sensitive to disease progression than conventional clinical measures. It is estimated that this increased sensitivity could reduce the number of patients required to detect the same treatment effect by approximately 80%, supporting the planned enrolment of around 100 patients.
Herantis has also extended the blinded, placebo controlled treatment period from six to nine months, followed by six months of HER-096 treatment for all participants, without increasing estimated study costs or overall funding requirements through readout. Operational progress includes scaling manufacturing from hundreds of grams, to several kilograms, at lower unit costs, alongside a new formulation enabling the full 300mg dose to be administered in a single subcutaneous injection.
The company continues to target a clinical trial application in Q426, and first dosing in H127, subject to financing and regulatory approvals. These advances should support ongoing pharmaceutical partnering discussions, although securing the necessary funding remains an important prerequisite for trial initiation.
