Increased customer visits have aided in strong trading in traditional categories and new products. Strategic investment in supply chain and IT systems are progressing to plan.
Other product categories witnessed good growth. Sales at breakfast are continuing to grow strongly, in addition to Greggs’ post-4pm pizza deal, offering a pizza slice and a drink for just £2. Sales of traditional sweet bakery products also benefitted from the improved quality delivered by the investment in manufacturing centres of excellence.
Greggs launched its new summer menu, featuring pasta salads, fruit, cold drinks, and a new and improved vegan wrap. Customers continue to recognise the quality and value of the lunch offer, with Greggs recently recognised as ‘Britain’s Favourite Sandwich Retailer’.
Greggs opened 38 new shops and closed 22 shops, giving a total of 1,969 shops trading as of 11 May.
Commissioning of new manufacturing platforms progressed in line with plan while the construction of a new distribution centre at Amesbury in Wiltshire has commenced.
Deployment of SAP systems in payroll and manufacturing progressed successfully with further roll-out to follow in the coming months.
