More on this equity

Edison’s investment companies team recently published a review on Franklin Global Trust (ticker: FRGT), which was formerly the Martin Currie Global Portfolio Trust. The Martin Currie brand will be retired and in July 2025, the trust’s manager, Zehrid Osmani and his team will join the much larger US-based Franklin Equity Group, whose CIO Jonathan Curtis will become co-manager of Franklin Global Trust; the investment strategy will remain unchanged. The trust’s performance has been disappointing in recent years as growth stocks de-rated and the strong US market was led by a very small number of stocks. Over the long-term, Osmani’s fundamental stock selection approach has been successful, so a positive change in sentiment towards the quality, growth names in the trust’s concentrated portfolio could lead to a rapid performance improvement.
