After a career in the asset management sector, Susan joined Trust Associates in 2009 and focuses on our director search business, working with a wide range of Boards on their succession planning and other projects. She has been involved in the investment trust sector for many years from both an operational and advisory perspective.

Kate Cornish-Bowden, Chair, International Biotechnology Trust

Kate is chair of International Biotechnology Trust plc, a non-executive director of Finsbury Growth & Income Trust PLC and CC Japan Income & Growth Trust plc, where she is chair of the audit committee. Kate worked for 12 years as a fund manager for Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where she was managing director and head of the global equity team. Prior to Morgan Stanley she worked as a research analyst at M&G. Kate is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA), holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), and has completed the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma.

Joe Winkley, Head of Investment Trusts, Winterflood Securities
Joe is Head of Investment Trusts and a Director of Winterflood Securities. He currently advises over 50 investment companies and is responsible for all listed fund transactions including IPOs, issuance and corporate advisory. Joe has over 15 years’ experience in investment funds and has advised on over £10bn of fundraising. Joe joined Winterflood in 2013 and previously worked at Oriel, UBS, Dresdner Kleinwort and Slaughter and May, where he qualified as a solicitor.

Gemma Woodward, Head of Responsible Investment, Quilter Cheviot

Gemma leads the responsible investment team at Quilter Cheviot working to ensure that they act as stewards of their clients’ assets in order to protect and enhance their long-term returns. Gemma is a member of the Investment Oversight Committee within Quilter Cheviot and a member of a number of industry groups focused on responsible and sustainable investment.

Gemma has over 25 years of investment experience and has spent the majority of that time focused on the charity sector, and specifically clients with complex responsible investment requirements. Her experience of being an investment practitioner is helpful in understanding the real-life issues of incorporating ESG factors within the investment process and for client portfolios and strategies.
