Vantage: Sid Lall, Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management on his global mandate with CGWM Global Equity

Sid Lall has been working on the buy side for 17 years. He joined Hargreave Hale in 2007 to work with Giles Hargreave on the Marlborough Special Situations Fund. In February 2021, he started managing the CGWM Global Equity Fund, working with a team of three people. Sid starts the conversation by explaining how he became a fund manager, working with Giles Hargreave in the financial crisis and managing a bear market. He introduces the CGWM Global Equity Fund, explaining the investment philosophy and process, focusing on a diversified portfolio, balance sheet strength and cash flow generation, and meeting the management of some of the largest companies in the world. He illustrates this approach with three examples: Ferrari (RACE.MI), Shimano (7309.T) and Watches of Switzerland (WOSG.L).
