How energy security fears are impacting the renewables sector.

In late 2022, Edison research suggested the geopolitical crisis in Europe would accelerate the replacement of foreign fossil fuel imports, putting the sector into overdrive. 

Spurred on by global commitments made at COP26 and net-zero emission targets, renewables were already on a roll, but how could the seismic events of 2022 influence the sector’s performance? In this Open Forum we explored in detail how the sector might benefit and the implications for growth.

Five leading companies involved in the renewables sector – Encavis (Germany), Energy Vault (Switzerland), Gore Street Capital (UK), Mytilineos (Greece) and Provaris Energy (Australia) – shared their missions, and their experiences of how the geopolitical situtation and energy security concerns were affecting them.
