Senior Reviewing Analyst

Office hours: Full time, 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday (part time considered)

Our company: Edison is the world leader in investor relations innovation. Having created the paid research sector, we are now re-making it as Investor Relations 3.0. Many trends have led to a disconnect between listed companies and investors. It is our mission to overcome these completely and ensure investors are fully aware of the investment opportunity our clients offer. To do so we write award-winning research, distribute it across the global investment community, use analytics to spot investor interest and then set-up meetings to discuss the equity story in detail. We call our method ‘Brilliant Knowledge’. It is this which enlightens pools of ‘Dark Capital’ and forms the basis of IR 3.0.

The team: We organise our teams by sector, looking to develop global domain expertise in sector niches. There is a strong team ethos, with Edison staff and consultants working together and supporting each other. We have a team of 100, of which 60 are on the research side of the business. Edison has a team of 20 senior analysts who report to the MD of content and client strategy. Each of these senior analysts manage a team of associates, part-time analysts and freelance analysts.

Key responsibilities

Reviewing research

• Ensure Edison’s research is legally compliant with UK and relevant overseas regulatory guidelines.
• Review analysts’ estimate and valuation assumptions and challenge where appropriate.
• Ensure our research meets Edison standards, both for the group research guidelines and the sector research principles.
• Ensure the investment case is clearly articulated in the research and that notes are up to required stylistic and structural standards.
• Review accuracy of financial models and publication thereof.
• Act as an independent adjudicator between company and analyst. Highlight to Edison management where there maybe divergence between company valuation expectations and analyst view.
• Ensure that a full and accurate model is in place.

Analyst mentoring/support for analysts

• Work with sector heads to provide ‘best practice’ training to analysts on the compilation of financial models, valuations and research reports.
• Work with HR and existing senior review analysts to develop and then supervise/oversee analyst training programme.
• Attend initiation kick-off meetings with analysts and company.
• Develop Edison’s research and introduce best practice examples from outside Edison to our research.
• Work with sector heads to develop best in class research.
• Help in the development of new sector reports, providing scoping guidance.

Management

• Attend candidate analyst interviews.
• Develop leveraging of available research data across all disciplines.
• Run peer review meeting ahead of initiation.
• Participate in quarterly analyst reviews.

Person specification:

• Proven senior equity analyst experience.
• Ideally the candidate will have knowledge of the healthcare sector, either as a sell-side analyst or investor.
• Strong excel financial modelling skills.
• Knowledge of valuation techniques across a range of sectors.
• Previous experience mentoring analysts.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
