Take on Trusts – October 2024

In October, the investment companies team partnered with Edison’s healthcare team to launch a thematic campaign on healthcare and biotech investment companies. This included interviews with BB Biotech (BION), International Biotechnology Trust (IBT) and HBM Healthcare Investments (HBMN), as well as an ‘Uncovering Trusts’ podcast episode on Worldwide Healthcare Trust (WWH). Watch the recent ShareSoc event with The Biotech Growth Trust (BIOG) and stay tuned for our upcoming thematic research note and additional audiovisual content on the healthcare sector. Beyond healthcare, this month we covered UIL’s (UTL’s) plans to go private after the redemption of the 2028 zero dividend preference shares, citing limited scale for diversification. SDCL Energy Efficiency Income Trust’s (SEIT’s) assets are performing well, with £75–125m planned for FY25 investments and a 6.32p dividend target. In other news, Ocean Wilsons (OCN) will sell its Wilson Sons stake, Patria Private Equity Trust (PPET) completed a £180m secondary sale and Invesco Asia Trust (IAT) will merge with Asia Dragon Trust (DGN) to create the ‘go-to’ Asian trust.
