More on this equity

Edison’s investment companies team recently published a review on BlackRock American Income Trust (ticker: BRAI). Its shareholders have approved the board’s proposals to change the strategy to a systematic approach, which is unique within the investment trust sector. BRAI will retain its value focus, but management of the trust will move to BlackRock’s Systematic Active Equity team. The investment process will combine the power of big data, AI and human expertise, aiming to deliver low-cost, risk-adjusted consistent returns. BRAI now has an enhanced dividend policy based on 1.5% of quarter-end NAV and there has been a reduction in management fees from a flat to a tiered structure. Shareholders are also being offered an exit strategy via tender offers. In aggregate, these changes should appeal to both existing and potential new holders of the trust.
