Kainos (LSE: KNOS) makes Canadian acquisition
Published by Katherine Thompson

Kainos has acquired a Canadian consulting business called Davis Pier; the terms of the acquisition are undisclosed. Davis Pier is a social impact consultancy that addresses complex challenges in public sector and community organisations across Canada. Kainos and Davis Pier have partnered since 2022, working on digital transformation projects in the Canadian public and healthcare sectors, including projects to modernise the Registry of Motor Vehicles, Nova Scotia Healthcare, and Early Learning and Childcare. In FY25 (y/e 31 March), Kainos generated revenue of £9m from its Canadian Digital Services business (this represented year-on-year growth of 70%) and its Canadian business has more than 100 employees, of which 60 are based in Canada. Davis Pier is headquartered in Halifax,  Nova Scotia with operations in Ontario and employs 120 people. The team will join Kainos’ Digital Services division in Canada and will continue to operate under the Davis Pier brand. Kainos had net cash of £133.7m at the end of FY25 allowing this deal to be funded from existing cash resources. Having shown encouraging signs that it is successfully replicating its UK Digital Services business in Canada, this deal should help Kainos to scale in the region more rapidly.
