Claranova issued a statement regarding the impact of COVID-19 on its business. The company highlighted that the Mobile and Internet businesses have not yet seen any reduction in demand, as these businesses are not affected by the travel restrictions on customers, and noted that Italy and France combined make up less than 2% of group revenues. At the same time, the company has not yet had any issues with the supply side of its business. The Internet of Things (IoT) business is more exposed as it relies on the production and deployment of physical devices, but this activity makes up less than 1.3% of group revenues. Internally, Claranova has put in place measures to keep staff safe and is implementing remote working where possible. Most importantly, the company notes that it had a cash position of €90m at the end of CY19. We are forecasting a net cash position of €24.7m by the end of FY20, made up of cash of €76.5m and convertibles and bonds totalling €51.8m.

Aberdeen Diversified Income and Growth Trust — Portfolio repositioning continues

Aberdeen Diversified Income and Growth Trust (ADIG) aims to generate attractive long-term income and capital returns from its diversified multi-asset portfolio. In line with the March 2017 strategy change, the process of recycling capital from listed to longer-term, unlisted holdings is continuing. These should represent c 43% of NAV (vs 26% at end-September 2019) on full deployment of existing commitments. ADIG’s underperformance since the strategy change reflects, among other things, ongoing portfolio repositioning, issues with its insurance-linked and litigation finance holdings and the value bias of its listed equity exposure. Since end-May 2019, the discount to NAV has been above the targeted 5%. That said, ADIG outperformed its benchmark over the last 12 months and it continues to offer an attractive prospective dividend yield of c 5.6%.
