Simon Gergel - Portfolio Manager, The Merchants Trust / CIO UK Equities, Allianz Global InvestorsSimon joined AllianzGI in April 2006 from HSBC Halbis Partners where he managed over £900m in high income funds as well as core institutional and life UK equity portfolios. Prior to joining HSBC in 2001, Simon worked for 14 years at Phillips & Drew Fund Management / UBS Asset Management where he was involved in all aspects of UK equity fund management, including research, portfolio management and account director roles. He graduated in 1987 from Cambridge University with an honours degree in mathematics and is an associate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals.
James de Uphaugh - Fund Manager, Edinburgh Investment Trust and CIO Majedie Asset ManagementJames de Uphaugh is a UK equity fund manager and Majedie Asset Management’s Chief Investment Officer. He has 32 years' investment experience and has been the Manager of Edinburgh Investment Trust since March 2020. Before co-founding Majedie in 2002, he was a Managing Director at Mercury Asset Management. James holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Jesus College, Cambridge. He also holds the ASIP qualification and is an Associate Member of the CFA Society of the UK.
Alex Wright - Portfolio Manager, Fidelity Special ValuesAlex Wright joined Fidelity in 2001 as a research analyst and has covered a number of sectors across the market capitalisation spectrum. He has managed the Fidelity Special Situations Fund since January 2014 and has been portfolio manager of the Fidelity UK Smaller Companies Fund since its launch in February 2008. He has also been responsible for managing Fidelity Special Values PLC since September 2012. Alex has a BSc (Economics) from Warwick University, where he graduated with First Class Honours, and he is also a CFA Charterholder
Laura Foll - Co-Fund Manager, Lowland Investment CompanyLaura Foll is a Portfolio Manager on the Global Equity Income Team at Janus Henderson Investors, a position she has held since 2014. Laura was appointed co-manager of Lowland Investment Company in November 2016 after working with her co-manager, James Henderson, as deputy manager on the portfolio for the previous three years. Laura joined Henderson in 2009 as part of the graduate scheme. She was subsequently named a global analyst and later an assistant fund manager for the Global Equity Income Team. Laura graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in economics and economic history from the London School of Economics. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 12 years of financial industry experience.
